Our Ranch Imagine for a
moment, a large herd of alpacas in varying shades of gray, black,
brown, fawn and white spread toward the horizon as they graze.
No; you are not in South America. This is Washington State, and the
group represents just a few of the over 1,600 alpacas belonging to
Bill Barnett, a former veterinarian and owner of Alpacas of America.
Beginning in 1984 with the purchase of some of the first alpacas to
grace North America, the herd - and the scope of business - has
increased ever since. Today, the business prides itself on
diversity. The herds roaming the green pastures of the expansive
Tenino property are comprised of Huacayas and Suris in every hue
from Peru, Bolivia and Chile. An experienced and knowledgeable staff
is on hand to tend to the needs of customers and animals alike. Over
a dozen employees and a full time veterinarian, work with business
manager Randy Snow to ensure the needs of their clients are
fulfilled. |
